cumpleaños countdown

it is my birthday tomorrow!
even though i am getting insanely old (turning 23 is kinda unfathomable right now, i am a grownup?), i love birthdays. i have been alive and well for another year. i am given things like pie and chimay and sugar skulls and teapots and small harmless explosives. i get to have a little party and celebrate becoming alive. fall is the best time to be born.
here's what i have been up to right on the edge of 23:

going through and looking at what i was up to at this time last year. last year i was a radish.

now it's tea and mountain streams.
love, rebecca

p.s. a good song to be 23 to, or be anything to.

no one does it like you

despite gallons of airborne, soup, eating tons of oranges and washing my hands constantly, i have caught my first cold of the season! it was bound to happen i suppose. ugh, of course it would happen right when i am going to be my most busy and worried :( on the plus side i have these new supplies which make things a little better. tape and pencils make everything better, and mistakes fixable.

*!*
i've also been writing a lot lately. i think my new booklet will be done and ready for printing by my birthday (end of the month, YES), and paintings all done by mid october! i will also update my etsy again sometime in between then. chugga chugga choo choo!

this makes me so so so happy. i sing it all the time.

summer wrapup

my very fast, quiet summer in a few fleeting moments. my work desk, cake, portland roses, ponds, my mama's visit and picnics, and gardening.

and my new fall song.
today graham and i ate breakfast sandwiches with tomatoes and basil and made tea with the lemon balm and mint, all from our garden. i am officially in full blown painting flip out mode and it feels good.

love, rebecca
